Middle and High School Literacy

Still, research demonstrates that adolescents’ literacy levels can improve with intensive, comprehensive instruction. Alliance for Excellent Education, December 2004

National High School Alliance
The National High School Alliance (HS Alliance) is a partnership of over forty organizations representing a diverse cross-section of perspectives and approaches, but sharing a common commitment to promoting the excellence, equity, and development of high school-age youth.

The partners have joined the HS Alliance to work together in support of the HS Alliance’s mission, which is to mobilize the resources, knowledge, and capacity of individuals and organizations to work collectively in shaping policy, practice, and public engagement that foster high achievement, close the achievement gap, and promote civic and personal growth among all youth in our high schools and communities.

The HS Alliance was announced in October 2002, and is supported by funds from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
