For students age 21 or under: If a student is homeless( for example: staying with friends because they have no other place to live, in a homeless or transitional shelter, motel or hotel, or in emergency foster care placement, Saint Paul Public Schools can accept one of the following documents:
1. Students name or list of names, effective dates, signature and title of the schools homeless contact or shelter director.
2. An application signed by the schools homeless contact or shelter director and their title. Also indicate on the application that the student is homeless.
3. An application signed by the student if 18 or over with the signature and title of the schools homeless contact somewhere on the application. Also indicate on the application that the student is homeless.
For students age 22 and older:
For these students, we need an application completed with gross income of an MFIP/Food Stamp case number. If there is no income or case number, write none on the application and a temporary free eligibility will be assigned. A temporary eligibility is for 45 days. At the end of 45 days we need an update of the status, preferably by phone call. We will need an update for every 45 days for as long as there is not income. This includes students living in transitional shelters.
